How to be a safer driver

You don’t want to crash your car and have to scrap it do you? So what can you do to make sure that you are safe and alert on the roads?

Stay Calm

One of the main reasons road accidents occur in the UK is road rage, meaning that we all need to take it down a notch. It may also be useful to mention that tailgating is actually illegal and can land you with 3 penalty points on your license and a £100 fine.

Stop Speeding

Speeding is another cause of collisions on the roads. Many people think there are times when it is acceptable to speed. These cases include being late for a plane or train, when your partner is in labor or late for something important. But this is not the case.

The limits are there for a reason, so stick to them.

Never drink and drive

Whilst this one may seem obvious, but a lot of people don’t seem to quite understand it. Never drink and drive!

Don’t use your mobile phone

Not only is your phone a distraction but it is also against the law. If you are caught using your mobile phone you’ll get 6 penalty points and a £200 fine, which would mean losing your license if you’d been driving for less than 2 years.

Be aware

It can be easy to get distracted from the roads when you have passengers in the car or you are on a long car journey. Make sure you focus on the roads 100% at all times. This will help you slow down in time and avoid getting in an accident.
